Soft Elevation System
This week Cleff produced its largest ever sliding window for use in the rail industry. The dimensions (external dimensions) of 2028 mm wide x 1317 mm high with an opening clearance of 1644 mm wide x 445 mm high are unusual and require complex and extensive preparation work – particularly with regards to the weight of the countersunk part, which weighs approx. 30 kg due to the window’s dimensions.
Ergonomics was the main focus of our development: the countersunk part, in other words the extremely heavy sliding area of the window, had to be user-friendly and easy for passengers to move.
This was achieved through our proprietary “Soft Elevation System” (SES), which significantly reduces the opening and closing forces thereby allows even heavy window elements to open and close effortlessly.
The design and implementation of a large, yet easy to operate window: another exciting challenge we were glad to face.
