Commercial & special vehicles

Commercial vehicles make a valuable contribution to the most diverse tasks every day. Whether as a passenger in a coach or as a crane operator high above the ground – a good view to the outside is a decisive factor. Windows are also an important part of the driver's workplace, so their functionality, ergonomics and protective functions matter – and window design contributes more and more to the appearance of commercial vehicles. To achieve the optimum for manufacturers and users, we regularly develop new, high-quality solutions.

Technology explained

Special vehicles – every vehicle its own case

Construction machinery

What does an earthmoving cab demand?

Dust, vibration, impact loads and an all-round view that determines safety on site. Cab windows here are designed for visibility and durability at the same time.

Typical application: Komatsu PC 3000.

Emergency vehicles

What is different for fire and rescue?

Operation under time pressure, with gloves, in the dark. Doors and windows have to open reliably when it counts – and close tight again afterwards.

Typical application: Crew and compartment doors at Ziegler.

Off-road and snow

Why is cold an issue for glazing?

In frost, seals harden and condensation forms on the inside. Insulating glass and suitable sealing materials keep the pane clear and operation smooth.

Typical application: Kässbohrer PistenBully, Beach-Tech Cherrington.

Motorhomes and ships

What counts for leisure and water craft?

Tightness against driving rain and spray, plus an exterior surface that plays its part in the design. Flush windows do both.

Typical application: Morelo Palace, Shiptec, Wuppertal suspension railway.
