The test centre
Vehicle windows and doors must meet high requirements: wind loads, thermal sealing, tightness against driving rain, endurance over the entire vehicle life and safety in the passenger compartment. Part of the testing is carried out in our own test centre, part at commissioned external laboratories – the overview below shows which test runs where.
You receive reliable, documented and traceable results – and a partner who can derive the design improvement directly from the test result.
Our test centre tests to the relevant standards but is not itself accredited. Where an accredited body is required, we commission and supervise an external laboratory and provide the mock-up and installation.

Six test disciplines in house
We carry out these tests ourselves in Wuppertal – on the finished component, not on a model. The results go into the release documentation.

Tunnel entry and train crossings create short pressure pulses. The rig reproduces them repeatably.

Driving rain on the outside, tightness checked on the inside.

Can I have products from other manufacturers tested at Cleff?
Yes. The test centre is also available for customer products. Make an appointment and tell us your individual test requirements.
Which standards does the test centre cover?
In our own test centre: UIC 566 (pressure cycling), DIN EN 14752 annex B and C (water and pressure tightness of doors), DIN EN 1191 (endurance) as well as DIN EN 45545-2 and, by analogy, DIN EN 45545-5 (fire load list and fire risk analysis). Further tests – such as wind load, sound insulation, climatic, corrosion and EMC testing – are commissioned and supervised by us at external laboratories.
Is the test centre accredited?
No. We test to the relevant standards, but our own test centre is not accredited. Where an accredited body is required, we commission and supervise an external laboratory.
